Shelley's Flat
By 1849, the Withers family was living at Shelley's Flat, near Gunning where a son, Francis, was born. George Withers gave his occupation then as "farmer".
In 1834, William Shelley was granted land at Burrawa Plains (Boorowa) in the County of Argyle and in the late 1830s, he moved to Lansdowne House in Goulburn. I suspect Shelley's Flat was named after William Shelley.
By the time of the 1837 Convict Muster, George Green had been assigned to work for William Shelley in the Goulburn area.
It seems there was gold at Shelley's Flat.
In 1915, "The Kangaroos" marched from Goulburn to Marulan via Shelley's Flat: http://kangaroomarch.org.au/location/marulan/
