Mary Ann McGarry was my great-great-grandmother.
Mary Ann was the daughter of John McGarry and his wife Mary Ann, nee McNamara. She was born on 1 November 1850 [1] in Bolton in Lancashire and arrived in Sydney in 1856 with her family as an assisted migrant aboard the David McIver at the age of seven.

Marriage and Children
On 20 September 1871, Mary Ann married Charles Vincent Laws in Liverpool in Sydney.
The couple went on to have at least 14 children, two of whom (one male and one female) were either stillborn or died soon after birth.

Charles Norman (known as Norman) (1881-1959). Norman Charles on death certificate.
Olive Mary (1883-1916). Illegitimate daughter, Mary but unable to trace.
William Ambrose (1886-1958).
Leo James (1888-1919). Descendant: Cherie.
Ernest Eugene (1891). Catholic priest so no descendants.
Mary Doris (known as Mollie) (1895-1977). Descendants: David, Anne, Margaret and their siblings

Death and Burial
Mary Ann died on 10 October 1918 at home, 108 New Canterbury Road, Petersham. She is buried at Rookwood Cemetery in Sydney with her husband. The grave reference is M2*2*208 however the grave is unmarked.
