Annie Laura Green
Annie Green > Annie Riely > Frank Murphy > Margaret Murphy > Felicity Bent
Annie Laura Green was my great-great-grandmother, the daughter of convicts George and Ann Green.
Annie was born Ann Green on 7 May 1851 at Bombowlee and her baptism was registered on 19 January 1853 in Yass, according to the rights of the Church of England [1]. She may have been baptised at St Clement's Church since this was the only Anglican church in Yass at the time.
In the 1830s, Annie's father, George Green, had been assigned to work for a man called William Shelley who, as well as owning property in the Goulburn area, also owned a farm called Bumbowly (or Bombowlie) close to the area that later became Tumut.
Annie and most of her siblings are recorded as being born at Bumbowlee and it is likely that George worked for Shelley at Bumbowlee before purchasing land there in 1851 so he could farm for himself. George received his Conditional Pardon in 1845 and was probably still working for William Shelley for wages when Annie was born.
It is likely that Annie grew up on her parents' farm, however we know nothing further of her life before her marriage in 1865.

Marriage and Children
Annie married Robert Magrane Reily on 11 December 1865 in Tumut [2].
Note that this means Annie would have been only 14 at the time of their marriage. Assuming this is correct, I wonder if she could have been pregnant when she married. If so, it would have been with a child whose existence is not recorded as the couple's first child was born in October 1866, 10 months after they married.
Annie and Robert had the following 13 children together, all born in the Adelong/Tumut area [3]:
1. Robert George, born 26 October 1866 in Tumut (NSWBDM 15531/1866). Died 16 September 1940 in Cowra (NSWBDM 15521/1940). Buried in Cowra Cemetery.
