Charles Laws - sources
The Commercial Hotel, Liverpool
The New Commercial Hotel opposite Liverpool station dates from 1898. It was built on the site of the earlier Commercial Hotel where Charles Laws lived with his family in 1883. We know this because he gave this address when registering the birth of his daughter, Olive, who was born on 3 June 1883.
I have been unable to find a record of any licences granted in Liverpool in 1882 or 1883.

The Royal Hotel, Campbelltown
The New South Wales Government Gazette shows Charles Laws as the licencee of the Royal Hotel in Campbelltown from 1 July 1885 until 1 July 1894, when the licence was granted to William Hodge.
The New South Wales Government Gazette published the proclamation of the Municipal District of Campbelltown on 21 January 1882 [1,2]. In 1883 there is no record of any publican's licences being granted to any hotel in Campbelltown so I am guessing the Royal Hotel did not yet exist. It is likely the hotel was built in 1884, although the first licensing record I can find dates from July 1885 when Charles Laws was granted the licence.
