Peter McIntyre: Settler in the Newcastle District 1825
Peter McIntyre was a Scottish free settler to whom my convict ancestor, Robert Magrane Reily, was assigned some time after 1825.
In 1825 Peter McIntyre was the overseer for Thomas Potter Macqueen at his property, Segenhoe, on land which had been granted to Macqueen in 1824. He also secured a 4000 acre land grant for himself which he called Blairmore [1,2].
In 1825, John Brown, who owned a property called Bolwarra, was in financial difficulties and Bolwarra was sold to Thomas Potter MacQueen. By the time of the 1828 census, Peter McIntyre was at Bolwarra, probably as overseer, and Robert Reily was his assigned servant.
The records below are from the Colonial Secretary Index, 1788-1825.
